Native, local-strain seeded lines
Seeded lines grown from broodstock collected in your own waters.
Seaweed Lines supplies native, local-strain seeded lines: cultivation rope seeded with seaweed seedlings grown from broodstock collected in your own waters. Because the strain is native to your site, it is adapted to your local temperature, salinity and season — not imported from elsewhere.
Why local strains matter
Seaweed that originates near your farm tends to establish faster and yield more reliably, and using native material avoids introducing non-native genetics into local ecosystems — an increasingly important consideration for permits and biosecurity.
How it works
- Together we collect fertile material from your region.
- Spores settle and grow on twine in our hatchery under controlled conditions.
- You receive seeded lines — or seeded twine for direct seeding — ready to deploy.
Species available
We grow brown, red and green macroalgae as seeded lines, including sugar kelp (Saccharina latissima), oarweed (Laminaria digitata), sea lace (Chorda filum), Irish moss (Chondrus crispus) and sea lettuce (Ulva lactuca). See the full species list.
Plan ahead
Because each line is produced to order from local broodstock, we need about one season’s lead time. Get in touch early →
