Sea lace (Chorda filum) is a brown seaweed with long, unbranched, cord-like strands. Seaweed Lines was first in the world to cultivate Chorda filum on ropes, and we now supply it as a seeded line.
A world-first crop
Chorda filum has rarely been farmed because its biology makes rope cultivation difficult. After several seasons of work we developed a reliable method, opening up a novel seaweed with a distinctive texture for chefs and a new subject for research.
Growing sea lace
Like our other lines, sea lace is grown from native mother plants in our hatchery and delivered as a ready-to-deploy seeded line. It is fast-growing and best deployed before the water warms.
